Implantation Bleeding Or Your Period?

Spotting or bleeding may occur shortly after conception, known as implantation bleeding. This bleeding occurs when the fertilized egg attaches to the lining of the uterus and can be mistaken for a period.

You can tell the difference by color and flow.

Implantation bleeding is very light bleeding or spotting, and the color is pink or rust-colored discharge and may last for a few hours or a couple of days. You would notice it when you wipe after using the bathroom.

Menstrual bleeding is heavier when you need a pad and is bright red. The average menstrual period lasts two to seven days.

Implantation bleeding is a common occurrence during early pregnancy. Medical attention is not usually necessary, but if you experience heavy bleeding or severe pain, it is important to contact your healthcare provider.
