6 Signs You Should Take A Pregnancy Test

There are signs that suggest you might be pregnant. It’s best to wait one week after your period is due before you take a pregnancy test – for the most accurate results. A urine pregnancy test is looking for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) in your urine, which is only present if you are pregnant. Also, the first urine of the day is best.

Here are 6 signs that suggest you may be pregnant:

1. A Missed Period
Some women use apps or note it in their calendars to keep track of their menstrual cycles. If you aren’t keeping track of your cycle, it will be more difficult to tell if your period is late. Many women have a 28-day menstrual cycle, so you want to take a test if you think it has been at least a month since your last period.

2. Tender Breasts
As your hormone levels rise, your breasts and nipples can become sore. You may notice that your breasts are swollen, painful, sensitive, heavy, and the areola may darken.

3. Nausea
Morning sickness can occur a month into your pregnancy or sooner. Not everyone experiences nausea, and it can happen at any time of day, not just in the morning.

4. Tiredness/Fatigue
Fatigue can be a very early sign of pregnancy and can happen as early as the first week following conception.
Rising levels of the hormone progesterone can cause fatigue. Changes in blood pressure and blood sugar can also add to your lack of energy.

5. Spotting
A small amount of blood called spotting can happen. It is also known as implantation bleeding, which occurs around the time of a period, about 10-12 days after conception. If the bleeding is heavy or the cramping is severe, then contact your health professional.

6. Your Contraception Failed
No birth control is 100% effective. There is always a chance you can be pregnant if the condom breaks, or you missed a pill. The only sure way to avoid pregnancy is to not have sex.
